This course is designed to prepare lifeguard candidates to prevent, recognize, respond, and manage aquatic emergencies, breathing and cardiac emergencies, and standard first aid injury and illness emergencies. Course includes: Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid. Lifeguard candidates must be 15 years of age and have the ability to demonstrate the following: swim 300-yards continuously, use the front crawl and breaststroke, tread water for 2-minutes without using arms, and able to retrieve a 10-lb weight from 7-feet of water, then swim 20-yards, with legs only. Upon successful completion of the lifeguard course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification, a Standard First Aid certification and a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescue certification valid for 2 years.
Blended learning online work must be completed before the start of class.

Emergency Sheets are required for ALL individuals (adults & youth) participating in any Andover Recreation programs, events, and trips. They must be filled out for each individual annually. Some programs will require additional paperwork or a new Emergency Sheet to be filled out.
