Pomps Pond is located off Abbot Street and is part of the Recreation Park complex. The pond comprises 16 of the 62 acres in the Park. Pomps Pond seasonal programs are coordinated by Rec.

The pond offers a spacious sunbathing area, recreational swimming, shaded picnic grounds, children's playground area, volleyball net, sailboat, canoe, and kayak rentals, bathrooms, showers, and a concession stand. Red Cross certified swim lessons are offered to the community. Pre-registration is required for swimming lessons by calling the Rec office (978-623-8340). Pomps Pond seasonal programs are coordinated by Rec.

Joint efforts between the Rec and the Shawsheen River Watershed include the annual events throughout the summer. Check out the Rec programming guide for additional information.

Walking trails bordering the pond make for pleasant strolls along the water. Eagle Scouts have continued to upgrade the paths by building a bridge along a stream bed, adding hand rails on our inclines, and clearing trees and underbrush along the trails.

Information about fishing license requirements can be found at the Mass Department of Environmental Affairs, Division of Fisheries & Wildlife

Swimming is only allowed when Pomps Pond is open for the season AND lifeguards are on duty. When the pond is closed, or in the off season, there is no swimming allowed.
